I grew up in northern Iowa and fled to the Minneapolis area for college (Crown College & McNally-Smith College of Music). Throughout high school and college, I led worship and played on worship teams in some very small and very large churches. Around the turn of the century, I found myself in Ohio. Then I found Shannon. Then I tricked her into marrying me. Currently, we have a boy, Aedan (2005), a girl, Addison (2007) and one or the other coming this fall. We live in the Mansfield, OH area and enjoy hitting all the small town festivals that pop up during the summer and fall in Ohio. Why? The food.

I live out each week what I teach and write about. I’m the worship/music pastor of Heartland Church, a church with campuses in Lexington and North Woodbury . I LOVE the challenge of developing musicians and teams for two campuses (but also wake up some nights in a cold sweat). As a way to connect in the community, I teach guitar classes and songwriting workshops at a local arts academy.

My passion for developing musicians, teams and leaders has spilled out to a couple side projects: www.WorshipTeamCoach.com is a growing collection of resources and writings to help worship teams and leaders–especially those from smaller churches. www.WorshipGuitarWorkshop.com is a place where I can spread the good news of playing great guitar for God (and sometimes let my inner theory-geek pop out).
