Wow, there is so much great new worship music out there today to choose from. And Today is the day is one of those songs, it’s a newer song and is really easy to sing. However, if you choose to do the guitar solo, make sure you have a guitar player who can nail it! Lincoln Brewster is one of those rare and gifted musicians that can absolutely rip a lead guitar solo apart!
First and the Last is another great song to “transition” your set list into a different mood. I think this is still a good praise song (singing about who God is), but the style of this song and its tempo changes the mood of the room enough and starts to transition you from praise to worship. Holy is the Lord is very familiar and allows the congregation to worship (singing to God) by lifting their hands and singing Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord God Almighty! Also, Holy is the Lord is in the key of Bb. I have followed that up with another song that is in the key of Bb and the resolve of Holy is the Lord is the same key that I need You starts in. If you are using loops and clicks in your set lists, this is a real nice transition as the tempo is pretty similar and the key is the same. You’ll need someone who is operating your loops and click tracks that has a good understanding of your computer, preferably a MAC with Reason as your operating software. This will take a little bit of work on your behalf, but loops and click tracks can be a huge bonus for your worship ministry if you take the time.
I could sing of Your Love forever…what else is there to say. This song kind of speaks for itself, its familiar, and everybody knows it. One of the things I love about this song is you don’t need to lead the congregation. Get them started and let them sing it, it will lead you to an amazing time of worship together. Leading worship isn’t always us singing, or playing our instruments, sometimes it’s stepping back and allowing things to happen as God wants it to happen.
