Songs

Holy is the Lord in G
Mighty to Save in A
This is Love (my original song) in D
Your Name in A
You are worthy of my Praise in G

I chose Holy is the Lord as a somewhat upbeat song that is familiar and will help people get right into worship within their comfort zone.

The main worship set starts with Mighty to Save, another familiar song. It is a horizontal song, therefore we are primarily singing about God rather than to God. Singing a horizontal song brings us together as worshipers.

The next song is up a fourth in the key of D, which gives the song a lift from the prior key of A. This is Love is the title song from my upcoming worship album “This is Love.”  It is a simple jam-style song ala Third Day or Hootie and the Blowfish. I play it chorded in G up on the 7th fret with a capo to give it even more energy. Your Name drops back down to the key of A, giving the ear a release of musical tension, thereby helping the worshiper relax and settle into a more worshipful song.

For the closing song we will be singing You are worthy of my Praise in the key of G. I gave the pastor a choice between You are worthy of my Praise or Your love O Lord, depending on how he wanted the service to end: up or down. He chose the more energetic song and, again, You are worthy of my Praise is a familiar song that will unite the worshipers.

Nothing too new or clever in this list, but sometimes familiarity goes a long way.

God bless you all!
